Who is Miss Mielke?!
Hi there!
I'm so excited you've made it to my blog. Since you are a student in my class, or a parent of a student, I thought you might want to know a little bit about me.
My name is Lauren Mielke and I graduated from Taylor University in May 2013. I received my Bachelor of Science in Physical Science Education with a Chemistry Concentration. This is my first year at Lincoln Junior High and I am feeling extremely welcome in Plymouth. I have always loved science and am so excited to share that passion with students in 7th and 8th grade.
While I went to college in Indiana, I am originally from Northern Michigan - a small town called Charlevoix. I am fortunate to have grown up in such a beautiful area. I have two younger sisters and two dogs at my parents' house. Charlevoix is a small town of about 3,000 people in the winter and 30,000 in the summer. I know what it's like to be from a small town.
I have a passion to coach outside of school. I have played volleyball, basketball, and softball. In Plymouth, I plan on getting involved with any sport possible and coaching when I can. This spring I am coaching JV Softball and looking forward to it!! I have a passion to work with students in the classroom and on the field. I also teach a Forensics course for our MAX enrichments two days a week. I think it is an interesting subject and love learning along with my students!
